Sunday’s coming up roses

Ah, the dreaded Sunday. It’s here again, but today is going to be a good day. I was looking at a friend’s blog this morning and noticed that she and her husband and her little girl had a party with chocolate cupcakes to “celebrate life.” And I’m thinking, dude…we should ALL do that. So instead of lamenting the fact that I can’t go grocery shopping until my stinking debit card gets here, or wishing that I’d used a little more sunscreen when I was jet-skiing yesterday, I’m going to celebrate the fact that I have the ability to actually go grocery shopping if I so choose. Or the fact that I have good friends that include me in their vacations and whose kids want to buy me a hermit crab. (Which I would name Myrtle, just so you know.)

Here’s my weekend in no specific order:

• I’m going to New Orleans! In September! To a wedding in the French Quarter! Yippee!!!
• I wished one of my BFF’s good luck on the bar exam – and I was secretly grateful it wasn’t me having to spend three days on that.
• I rode a jet ski and prayed for my safety when we went airborne over waves.
• I found a snail hiding in a conch shell.
• I saw Mamma Mia! at the movies and sang along and LOVED IT.
• I discovered that my life’s purpose should’ve been to move to Greece and sing songs on stairs with Pierce Brosnan.
• I realized that I have come to the point in my battle with anxiety where I enjoy road trips and driving again. Hallelujah.
• I longed to have my own seven year-old boy who looks at me with snaggle teeth and big brown eyes and says, “I love you, Mommy.”
• And then I woke up.

Today I’m going to read the paper to see who got married and didn’t invite me. And then I’m going to do laundry and make beds and come up with meals for the week. And yes, it might be boring, but I’m celebrating life, remember?
