Margarita Popsicles

  • 1/3 cup tequila
  • 2 cups margarita mix
  • 1 cup water

Mix together and pour into popsicle molds or into small Dixie cups covered with foil (in which case you’ll need a stick or skewer to poke through the foil to form the handle). Freeze until firm. Just before serving, dip the end of the popsicle in a little bit of margarita mix or tequila, then dip in salt. Serve. Enjoy. Cool off. Be happy! {image from Bon Appétite via Epicurious.com}

The Brangelina Twins Phenomenon

Why is this news? I went on People’s site this morning and there’s this HUGE RED BOX at the top of the screen announcing the births of Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. Considering the twins’ birthday neighbors like Sunday Rose Kidman Urban and Levi Alves McCanaughey, Knox and Vivienne don’t seem like such odd name choices. In fact, I kind of like them. But either way, anywhere you look on the web has these GIANT HEADLINES ANNOUNCING THE WORLD’S MOST FAMOUS BABIES EVER EVER EVER! Poor Shiloh. She’s so been overshadowed.

Tony Snow has also been overshadowed. He was a Davidson alum, which is cool because I love everyone I know that went to Davidson, and regardless of the fact that he was a conservative which made him unlikeable to some, he was hilarious as all get out. He had the snappiest, wittiest comebacks for nosy White House reporters and I loved it. He also was completely public about his battle with colon cancer, and remained positive through his illness and chemotherapy.

If you know me, you must know our family’s battle with colon cancer, and how it took Brian’s father away from us just six months after our wedding. Since then, Brian has had two colonoscopies and has had polyps every time. Polyps, in case you don’t know, can more often times than not turn into cancerous cells if left untreated.

Consider this my PSA for Sunday:

Have a colonoscopy. If you’re 55 or older, man or woman, you should be scheduling your exam on Monday morning. If you’re younger than 55 but have a family history of colon cancer, you should also be scheduling your exam on Monday morning. Colon cancer, if caught early enough, is one of the more treatable forms of cancer out there. Do it now, and do it in honor and in loving memory of Bernie, Frank, Wallace, Jay, Genevieve, Tony Snow and the millions of others that die every year.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming: The Brangelina Twins ad nauseum. Good luck getting away from that press coverage – I would consider it next to impossible.
