OMG
So I promised-promised that I wouldn’t blog about this, so I’m not. But I’m SO EXCITED for you! And I think it’s fantastically wonderful, and that you should call our crafty friend for her skills. Whether the goodness happens or not, it’s still the happiest time of your life, so YAY!!!!!!!

Business Opportunities
Do you think that women would pay for me to do background research on their dates, generally preparing them for going out into the wild, wild world of dating? My friend Andrea thinks so. Yesterday I Googled the two men she’s seeing, and found some interesting information about them…where they’ve been, so to speak. I found that one has a penchant for poker, while the other graduated from high school in 1986, a full ten years before her. Anyway, I do enjoy my investigative work from time to time, and that’s how I know where SH, and AMcG, and MB, and CT all ended up. Some of them are married, some aren’t, some are gainfully employed and some of them are still the losers they once were.
All this, of course, is to say that while I enjoy the job I currently hold, my on-the-side investigation is so much more fascinating. How can I parlay that into a real job? Once I wanted to be a bounty hunter or a repo girl, but BB said I wasn’t cut out for so much danger. (I think he’s absolutely wrong, by the way.) How much fun would it be to just research people all the time – get the dirt on them, and warn their potential dates of what may lie ahead? Super fun, I say. Still not as fun as tracking down bail-jumpers or delinquent car owners, but it’ll do.
Today we start interviews for the new SSS director. A little bit I’m dreading it, because my short attention span doesn’t allow for long-winded people, and I have a feeling most of the applicants are long-winded. As I get older, I’m getting less and less proficient at pretending as though I’m interested in what people are saying. Thank God for the clock I put on the wall behind the client chair in my office. I can glance upwards, behind their heads, and seem as though I’m thinking, when really I’m just counting the minutes until they leave. Here’s hoping I can snag a window view in the conference room this morning, otherwise I’m liable to fall asleep before it’s my turn to ask questions.
It’s Wednesday! More later…
